Receptionist

What’s the Role… Our reception team have a high profile role and play an important part in the smooth running of our award winning facility.  We are looking for candidates with excellent customer care skills to join this small friendly team. The main duties are:

 

  • To greet, help and serve the customers in a friendly and enthusiastic manner.
  • To provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • To take bookings for facilities using a computerised booking system.
  • To advise customers and actively promote the facilities, services and products
  • To handle cash including issuing tickets and reconciling tills.

 

About you … Our ideal candidate will have previous experience of serving customers in a face to face environment – so they know they love the challenge. They will also have a team orientated approach and as no two days are the same, they will have a flexible and unflappable attitude. There are two shift patterns available as follows:

Lifeguard

Wadurs and Splashpoint Swimming Pool: 
Salary: Up to £8.91 per hour
Hours: Part-Time

We work with local clubs, charities, schools and wellbeing providers and are dedicated to enhancing the lives of residents. We currently run 4 sites in Worthing and 3 new sites in Adur; Lancing Manor & Southwick Leisure Centre, and Wadurs Swimming Pool in Shoreham. Therefore, we are looking to recruit a skilled team of enthusiastic and highly motivated staff to work at these sites, across a variety of roles and in turn, who will help spread our message to get, More people, More Active More often!

What’s the Role …Our successful candidate will be a strong, confident swimmer. A current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard qualification is essential. You will need good customer skills and be prepared to work a shift pattern to include early starts, late finishes, some weekends, and Bank Holidays.

South Downs Leisure will pay for training (NPLQ course) for full or part-time roles (minimum 12 hours a week) if successful at interview. In addition Splashpoint are running an NPLQ course week commencing 13th December so please register your interest with the site as soon as possible.  A swim test will also be carried out prior to interview. 

About you….You will be able to work as part of a team to ensure a high level of bather safety. You will also be expected to assist in maintaining cleanliness throughout the complex and assist in the setting up of various activities. You must have experience of working in a large comparable leisure facility.

Cleaning Operative

 What’s the Role …You will be responsible for maintaining the high standard of cleanliness required for a facility You will carry out various cleaning duties, including washing, emptying litter bins, sweeping, dusting and vacuum cleaning using powered equipment where appropriate, to ensure that the premises, which will include toilets, are in a clean and hygienic condition.

About you…Are you conscientious with an eye for detail and a willing can-do attitude to work. The ideal candidate should have cleaning experience although applicants with a willingness to learn will also be considered.

WHAT IS PHOENIX?

Phoenix is a club aimed at the over 50’s which was set up initially at Worthing Leisure Centre over 20 years ago.  The Phoenix club provides a range of activities including dance classes, badminton, short mat bowls and much more, with its aim to promote active lifestyles.  Alongside this, the Phoenix provides a social atmosphere, with volunteers within the club arranging social events and outings both within and external from the leisure centre.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

South Downs Leisure are looking for a volunteer to attend our Friday sessions to provide a warm welcome to our existing and new Phoenix members. The approved volunteer will be the main point of contact for our members on a Friday morning and liaise with SDL Management.

 

No experience is necessary, your attitude, enthusiasm and values are the most important thing.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To meet and greet Phoenix Members on arrival to their sessions.
  • To understand how Phoenix operates to be able to provide customers with information regarding the club.
  • To show new members around the facility, take them into their sessions and integrate them.
  • To be the initial point of contact for Phoenix Members on a Friday and assist with any queries you can.
  • Attend Phoenix tea/coffee time on Fridays to inform the group of any important information.
  • To liaise with the Group Programming Manager, Worthing Leisure Centre Operations and Facility Managers and be a vital link between South Downs Leisure and the Phoenix Members.
  • To assist the current Phoenix Leaders of the Outward Bound and Speakers Lunch events to help promote these to new and existing customers.
  • Re-establish Hosts/Leaders for activities who will report to you directly.
  • To assist with taking session registers.
  • Assist with the development and future of Phoenix at South Downs Leisure.
