How do I join as a member

You can leave us a few details and our team will be in touch or you can join online.

We look forward to welcoming you to our centres.

When will my Direct Debit start being collected again?

Direct debits will recommence on the 8th April 2021 on a pro rata’d basis so that no one misses out on any days they had already paid for before we closed. You will receive an email shortly advising you of the date and amount of your first direct debit

I cancelled my direct debit, can it be re-instated?

We understand that some customers have cancelled their direct debits during this time so please do not worry. Just send us an email to fit4.enquiries@southdownsleisure.co.uk advising us that you wish to remain a member, and one of our Membership Advisors will be in touch with you to re-instate your direct debit as soon as possible.

Please be aware due to minimal staff this may take a few days we will get back to everyone as soon as we possibly can

I paid upfront for my yearly membership, will it be extended?

Absolutely, all upfront memberships will be extended for the period of closure. If your membership expired in the months we were closed please contact us at fit4.enquiries@southdownsleisure.co.uk and a Membership Advisor will contact you confirm and reinstate your expired membership

I sent in a request to cancel my membership but haven’t had a response?

Unfortunately, our Membership Advisors were placed on Furlough leave when the closure was announced to help support your centres. We hope we have managed to respond to all queries before we reopen however if you haven’t had a response please do contact us at cancellations@southdownsleisure.co.uk

Swimming

Aquaschool Swimming Lessons

Wadurs Swimming Pool 

Swimming Lessons will commence on Monday 19th April.  To book your child on for a place, please email wadurs@southdownsleisure.co.uk

Stage 1: (Beginners/Non-Swimmers)

Suitability: For children aged 4+ who are in School and cannot swim without buoyancy aids. Water Depth 0.85 metres.

Aim: To learn to travel a minimum distance of 5m on front and back, with correct kicking action for Front Crawl and Back Stroke. Building on water confidence, such as Submerging, Floating and Jumping in.

Stage 2:

Suitability: For school aged Children who can jump in unaided, submerge completely and travel at least 5 metres on front and back with correct kicking action for Front Crawl and Backstroke. Water Depth 0.85 metres.

Aim: To introduce arms for Front Crawl and Backstroke and learn to swim a minimum distance of 10 metres Front Crawl, with basic side breathing and 10 metres Backstroke. Breaststroke and Dolphin leg kick are also introduced.

Stage 3

Suitability: For school aged children who can jump in unaided, submerge completely and swim at least 10 metres Front Crawl (with basic side-breathing), Backstroke and basic Breaststroke. Water Depth 1.2metres.

Aim: To continue to improve on overall swimming technique and stamina for Front Crawl, Backstroke and Breaststroke. Butterfly and basic water survival techniques and skills will also be introduced.

Stage 4

Suitability: For children who can swim at least 25 metres Front Crawl with correct breathing, Backstroke and basic Breaststroke. Water Depth 1.8 metres.

Aim: To continue to improve on overall swimming technique and stamina for Front Crawl, Backstroke and Breaststroke and basic Butterfly. Building on Water Survival skills and introducing basic dives.

Children who complete Stage 4 are more than welcome to trial Worthing Swimming Club. Contact: headcoach@worthingswimmingclub.org

Stage 5

Suitability: For children who can swim at least 50m to 100m efficient Front Crawl, Backstroke, Breaststroke and basic butterfly. Must be confident in deep water, minimum depth 1.8 metres.

Aim: To improve overall technique, build on stamina and teach personal survival skills and racing dives.

Stage 6

Suitability: For children who are able to swim 200m + and have excellent technique and awareness of lane etiquette. Confident in distance swims and deep water exercises.

Aim: To increase stamina and fitness and continue to refine Stroke and Diving Techniques.

Stage 7 (Aquasquad)

Suitability: For children who already have the correct technique in Front Crawl, Backstroke and Breaststroke and are strong swimmers.

Aim: To refine swimming technique, introduce competitive starts and turns. Building on stamina and fitness. This is a one hour long session.

Splashpoint Leisure Centre

Pool Rules
  • Ensure you book your session in advance, either via our online booking system or app.
  • All swimming sessions are only available to book 48 hours in advance.
  • If you are displaying COVID Systems, please contact us immediately.  These are;
    • a new and continuous cough
    • high temperature
    • loss of tase or smell
    • shortness of breath
  • If you are suffering from cold or flu-like symptoms prior to a swim, please do not swim and contact the centre to cancel your booking ASAP.
  • Arrive beach ready, swim costumes under clothes, don’t forget your flip-flops for poolside.
  • Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your session, to help reduce over-crowding and to ensure social distancing is maintained.
  • Upon arrival, ensure you queue in the correct place depending on whether you are attending a Gym/Class or swim session – this will be apparent when you arrive.
  • Please sanitise your hands upon entering the centre.
  • Follow the 1-way route around the centre and poolside.
  • Use the toilets and pre-swim showers before entering the pool, post-swim showers are available for a rinse only, no soaps or shampoo.
  • Belongings can be left on poolside – there are seats spaced out around the edge of the pool to leave a bag or belongings on – these seats are not to sit or rest on.
  • Customers are advised to wear face masks, to and from sessions and when spectating.
  • Maintain social-distancing as you move around the centre and be considerate to others around you.
  • Maintain distance in lanes too – allow space between you and the swimmer in front.
  • For safety purposes, please do not swim backstroke or butterfly.
  • Limited Changing Village cubicles are available for after your swim.  However, we still recommend to Towel-Dry and dress on poolside if you can – remove wet costumes and bring towel robes, dry robes, dressing gowns, onesies or clothes that are easy to slip back on.
  • Exit poolside and the building following the 1-way route – please be mindful of the possible crossover point where the exit route meets the pool entry route (highlighted on site).
  • Each session is 1 hour with a 45 minute swim, this includes time to get into the pool and exit the pool afterwards. Please do not encroach on other people’s session times to ensure everyone can make the most of the pool.
AquaSchool Pool Rules
    • If you or your child is displaying COVID Systems, please contact us immediately.  These are;
      • a new and continuous cough
      • high temperature
      • loss of taste or smell
      • shortness of breath
    • If anyone is suffering from cold or flu-like symptoms prior to a swimming lesson, please do not swim and contact the Aquaschool Team immediately.
    • Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your lesson, to help reduce over-crowding.
    • 1 parent/carer to accompany swimmers, again to help reduce over-crowding.
    • Please sanitise your hands on entering the centre.
    • Arrive beach ready, swim costumes under clothes, don’t forget your flip-flops for poolside.
    • Follow the 1 -way route around poolside and the building.
    • Use the toilets and pre-swim showers before entering the pool, post-swim showers for a rinse only are available, no soaps or shampoo.
    • Lockers are not available.
    • Belongings can be left on poolside or taken with parent/carer to the spectator area.
    • Parents/Carers to leave poolside during lessons and watch from the upstairs spectator seating (except AquaSplash parent/carers).
    • Spectators are advised to wear face masks, to and from lessons and when spectating.
    • Maintain social-distancing and be considerate to others around you.
    • Swimming Hats must be worn in lessons (exceptions for pre-school, Rookies, Diving and Adult Lessons, but long hair must be tied-up).
    • Pre-school swimmers, must wear a swim nappy where appropriate.
    • Goggles are optional. Please practice putting goggles on at home in the bath or shower, it can help.
    • Limited Changing Village cubicles are available for after your swim.  However we still recommend to Towel-Dry and dress on poolside if you can – remove wet costumes and bring towel robes, dry robes, dressing gowns, onesies or clothes that are easy to slip back on.
    • For Stage 7/Squad and Rookies Swimmers, please remember to bring your own water bottle.
    • Lessons are 20 minutes in the 30 minute time slot, to allow for extra cleaning in between each session and reduce over-crowding on poolside.
    • For Stage 7/Squad and Rookies, lessons will be 50 minutes in the 1 hour time slot and Diving will now be 30 minutes in the 40 minute time slot, again to allow for extra cleaning.
    • There is no Public Swimming during lessons (the exception is during pre-school lessons, when the public can swim in the Main 25m Pool, via the on-line booking system).
    • Exit poolside – following the 1-way route.

Keeping you safe in our centres

General visit etiquette

Below are some simple guidelines that we would ask you to read and adhere to with regards to booking activities and visiting our centres.

  • Download the South Downs Leisure app.
  • Register for online booking via our online booking system, if not already done so
  • Book your session in advance – all sessions must be booked in advance, including Swimming, Gym, Weights Room, Classes, Track, Creche, Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Table Tennis and BEE FIT sessions.
  • Pay for your session in advance (if relevant).
  • Only book one of each session type per day (gym, class, weights room and racket sport).
  • Arrive on time for your session, to ease queuing.
  • Arrive ready to train or swim.
  • Changing facilities and showers are now permitted at Splashpoint Leisure Centre and Worthing Leisure Centre
  • Bring a filled water bottle to your session.
  • Bring your own exercise mat, as these will not be provided.
  • Bring a towel for drying off whilst exercising.
  • Sanitise your hands regularly.
  • Clean equipment used with provided solutions.
  • Ensure you adhere to social distance guidelines.
  • Follow one-way routes around our centres
  • Respect other facility users and staff at all times.
  • Be patient as people get used to the new layout and guidelines at our sites.
  • Enjoy your session.
  • Speak to staff if you have any questions or issues.
  • Use the specific exit routes from the facility you are visiting.
Face Coverings

Face Masks and Face Coverings

You must wear a face mask or covering when visiting any of our centres. Masks/coverings must be worn in the reception areas, when spectating and when not seated in the café areas. For additional personal protection, you must also wear a face mask whilst walking to and from your chosen activity.

You will not need to wear mask when exercising or whilst sat eating/drinking.

As part of the controlled COVID-19 outbreak, we will assist in the effective deployment of NHS Test and Trace in helping to identify and contain localised outbreaks.  We do this by collecting certain data about both visitors to the venue and staff who work there.
