Sophie is using the FIT4 facilities including using the athletics track to help her train

My personal involvement with the GB polo squad has remained very much as a squad member to date, being the third choice goalkeeper and named the reserve for the latest games. I am making improvements all the time and have been heavily involved with all training camps, at home and abroad. I am fortunate enough to be able to train on the south coast with my home water polo team Worthing, based at Splashpoint and complete my strength and conditioning programme at Worthing Leisure Centre.

My other involvement in the sport at club level saw me represent Bristol Swimming and Water Polo Club in last year’s British Championships, lifting the trophy and taking home the gold medal. My current British Water Polo League side Invicta also managed to earn promotion this season back into division 1 and taking our place back amongst the top 8 sides. I am also the head coach for the south east regional boys teams across three different age groups U19, U17 and U15.

Goals for this year:

  • To make my international debut
  • To start the qualification for the 2016 European Championships with a positive result

I’ve competed in powerlifting since 2005 and have won the British bench press 3 times, in 2006, 2007 and 2008. I also held the record in 2007. This year I competed at the Southern Championship and broke 4 British records in the same day on squat, bench and deadlift and overall total. I’ve also competed in 12 strongman competitions.
